Strategic Information Assessment

A strategic information assessment report provides an overview of your organisation's data landscape, and insight into data quality and compliance issues: a first step towards creating value through classification.

What Is The Value In Classification?

Properly classifying information means that it is divided into described hierarchies and groups depending on different relevant data such as criticality, confidentiality and usage. Classification works as a solid basis for supporting the information structure of your organisation, and ensures your information’s confidentiality, integrity and availability.

As a direct result, it allows you to more easily keep clutter away by making it easy to delete unimportant, faulty, and outdated documents faster, reducing data cost and improving overview. It also allows tools, such as AI, to work with the correct data you own, increasing its efficiency and accuracy.

That being said, classifying information requires a lot of preparation. Our Strategic Information Assessment is the first step towards having a complete and effective classification system.

1. Mapping Out Your Organization

Organisation Insight and Context

Before anything, we seek better understanding of your organisation. We dive deeper into your sector, explore your areas of expertise, and learn about your organisational structure. That way we can better understand the context in which your data needs to be classified.

Data Mapping

With a targeted technical scan of your data storage, we gain a better understanding of your existing data landscape. We look at the types of data that already exist within your organisation, how that data is structured, and what systems support that data structure. After this we are ready to directly discuss how to go about the analysis with you.

2. Analysis

Gathering Requirements and Goals

Having mapped out your company's data landscape, we discuss legal and internal requirements with the departments of your organisation. We establish the scope of what should and shouldn't be considered "business-critical data", but also establish what other classification needs are in detail.

In-Depth Analysis

Based on the established requirements and goals, we proceed with an in depth analysis of your current data. We look for data quality issues, compliance issues, and evaluate any current classifications you might be using. We then shape our recommendations into steps for you to follow in order to improve any found issues, and improve your classification.

3. The Assessment

Reporting

We come back to you with a complete detailed report of our findings, any possible faults, and detailed suggestions on how to solve any issues we have found. We go through the report together, and have a discussion on any adjustments that need to be made before the final handover.

Handover

We deliver the final report and walk the relevant stakeholders through the different recommendations. We make sure to go over the reasoning behind our suggestions to ensure that those working with our suggestions understand the use of them. More importantly we have these meetings to ensure the overview and classification can be maintained consistently and continuously.
